Troy Ave talks being a Brooklyn emcee with MTV [VIDEO]

Seriously, who would’ve ever thought hip hop would take it this far? These past couple of years have been incredible for the genre. A number of the old favorites are back and popular with the new music, Jay-Z brought the Nets to Brooklyn and they play in the Barclays Center, an arena he has ownership in.

The NBA isn’t the only thing Jay-Z helped bring to Brooklyn. Back in March, MTV announced the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards would be held in Brooklyn. Jay-Z, of course, had a hand in making this a reality and MTV has used this as a chance to explore Brooklyn hip hop with Brooklyn Hip Hop Week.

In starting this off, they followed Troy Ave through Brooklyn, as he discussed the culture in the borough. Calling himself Brooklyn’s hottest emcee on Instagram, Troy Ave broke down the essentials for any emcee from the borough. Troy Ave explained all it takes to dominate in the city.
