Tons of discussion has come up about Troy Ave, but his intentions seem to be pure in restoring New York hip hop. Hip hop post-The Black Album in New York suffered. Things got so bad that Nas releasing Hip Hop is Dead album created a discussion that went on for close to two years.
A few New York artists have come before Troy Ave and had success, none quite on the level of French Montana. But, Troy Ave frequently saying he wants to bring back golden era New York hip hop has made him stick out. So far, everything he has done has been done on an independent scale.
Several record labels, however, have expressed interest in signing Troy Ave to their label. Many of the same labels who offered French Montana a deal are now offering a deal to Troy Ave. On Instagram, Troy Ave hinted at Puff Daddy signing him to Bad Boy Records.
