Today, the world lost a cultural icon in Della Reese, one of the many legends who helped pave the way. Early in her career, Della Reese was a gospel singer. In her later years, in the spotlight, she played opposite of Redd Foxx and Eddie Murphy in Harlem Nights.
The younger generation likely knows Della Reese best for playing the angel on “Touched by an Angel.” Given her gospel background, that show was a great outlet for her. However, in the early 2000s, that show ended its run.
