Tory Lanez has been very consistent over the last year and a half as he’s released four projects in total. They are “The New Toronto 3,” “Daystar, “Loner,” and “Playboy” last month. The Toronto superstar is now being featured on the April 2021 cover of Flaunt Magazine. On the cover, Tory is seen rocking an all-white Fendi outfit along with a pair of classic all-white Air Force Ones.
Among the topics discussed in this feature were the latest “Playboy” album, working with Chris Brown frequently, and where he sees himself in regards to bigger stardom in the future.
For the “Feels” collab with Chris Brown from the album, that record was actually recorded in Mexico. Both were in the country at the same time so Tory simply pulled up and the rest was history. On the Playboy album as a whole, Tory says this is a very “personal” one and came from a “real genuine place of emotion and vulnerability.”
“He had called me and told me he was out there, I said ‘I’ma pull up.’ I pull up out there, and we spent a couple days vibing, being away from America for a little bit, said Tory in regards to the “Feels” single. “We recorded it out there, it was a vibe. Everything was good, everything seemed to transcend the right way. The energy was good, the vibe was good, the music was good, the beat was great. When I first started the hook, it was so infectious, so contagious that I felt ‘Chris, you have to join this.’ This has to be one of them records we put out there, because it feels like me and you.”
Tory was also asked if he thought he would be where he is now. He explained that he always knew that this would be the case and nothing would stop him from accomplishing what he’s done in the music industry. He has bigger goals though as he wants to perform in front of crowds similar to that of DMX at Woodstock back in 1999. Tory even has goals bigger than music in general as he wants his records to stop wars similar to that of Bob Marley.
“You ever seen that meme of DMX on the stage performing to the whole world? He’s performing to a million people, that’s how I feel. I’m going to stop wars with my music like how Bob Marley did. I’m going to do certain things that are so above and beyond other artists.”
For new projects, Tory has been putting out album “capsules” of various genres since last year. “Loner” was the rap capsule and “Playboy” was the R&B capsule. Tory plans to continue this and experiment with other genres such as pop and reggae.
