Each year, an artist experiences breakout success and Tinashe saw breakout success in 2014, with her single, “2 On,” featuring ScHoolboy Q. However, Tinashe managed to have more success outside of the single. Her debut album, Aquarius, was released last month and she did her media rounds.
Meanwhile, Tinashe found success with her follow-up single, “Pretend,” featuring A$AP Rocky. The single has kept her momentum going into the fall and Tinashe has cemented herself as the new major star in the game. Figures in the industry have taken notice and now she has had them jump on her records, mainly Drake.
Tinashe was at Power 105.1’s Powerhouse 2014 in New York City and “The Breakfast Club” trio of Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, and DJ Envy, in addition to Angie Martinez caught up with her. During their interview, Tinashe talked about underage partying. She also talked about Drake and him jumping on her record.
