Different states are moving at their own pace when it comes to deciding when to have sports and concerts with fans back when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have been seeing more of this in the south. Now, Ticketmaster is preparing to keep fans safe when we see the return of more concerts nationwide in 2021.
According to a report by Billboard, they will verify that fans have received a negative COVID-19 test within a 24-72 hour window or that they’ve been vaccinated. This plan is reportedly still in the developmental phase. The plan will include Ticketmaster digital ticket app, third party health information companies such as CLEAR Health Pass and IBM’s Digital Health Pass, and testing and vaccine distribution providers such as Labcorp and the CVS Minute Clinic.
Following ticket purchases, fans would verify their vaccination or the negative COVID-19 test. Once tests are completed, fans would need to get the lab to deliver their results to a health pass company. They would then send Ticketmaster the verifications. Of course, positive tests would result in no entry to the events.
“We’re already seeing many third-party health care providers prepare to handle the vetting — whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test, or other methods of review and approval – which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified,” said Ticketmaster Mark Yovich to Billboard. “Ticketmaster’s goal is to provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events, and is working to create integrations to our API and leading digital ticketing technology as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what’s green-lit by officials and desired by clients.”
