The Weeknd has arguably been the biggest artist in the world over the past year and a half. He’s had two No. 1 songs over this span with “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights.” The Toronto native also scored another No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart last month with “After Hours.”
Blinding Lights continues to capitalize off of its momentum ever since its November 2019 release. Now, it has officially gone 8x platinum in the United States, according to Chart Data. This is after selling 8 million units.
Blinding Lights was also recently listed as the biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this century. Weeknd also performed this record during his halftime show at Super Bowl LV in Tampa in February, which continued to help it smash streaming records.
