The Weeknd Reveals That His Upcoming Fifth Album, “Dawn,” is Finished

The Weeknd has had an epic 2021, as his momentum rolled over from 2020. Last year saw the Toronto native score another number one album, “After Hours,” as it contained chart-topping hits such as “Blinding Lights” and “Heartless.” Blinding Lights may also bs certified diamond in the US, before this year ends. Weeknd also had an impressive Super Bowl performance, in February.

In August, Weeknd put out a new single in “Take My Breath.” This hinted at him possibly working on his fifth studio album. This project has since been revealed to be titled “Dawn.”

In a new episode of Weeknd’s “Memento Mori” show on Apple Music 1, he revealed that Dawn has been completed. At this point, there is more to come in the coming months, as there are still some things missing, such as “a couple characters that are key to the narrative.”

“I hope y’all had a great summer. Some exciting features coming out in the fall before the album drops. We’ll slowly be unraveling that info in the next couple months. Some Dawn updates, album is complete, only thing missing is a couple characters that are key to the narrative. Some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child, and some that inspire me now. More to come in the following months. But the only thing that matters is this very moment.”

Weeknd also revealed that he’s moved into a new home, and has been shooting more music videos. This is after taking a hiatus from recording more episodes for his show. It’s unclear when Dawn will be out, but he will be venturing on his After Hours Tour, in January.
