Sunday nights, at 9 pm, have easily become the highlight of quarantine season. Millions of excited viewers tune into ESPN to watch the legend, Michael Jordan, and the Chicago Bulls documentary.

A ten part documentary, The Last Dance gives viewers an in depth look at the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty, through the lens of the final championship season in 1997-98. It is now the most in-demand documentary in the world.

The Last Dance is also the most-watched documentary in the history of ESPN, entirely. Originally, it was expected to premiere in June. The 10-hour film releasing over five weekends is part glossy highlight reel, party gritty peek into darker side of things, with a compilation of never before seen interviews and past clips that capture the true essence of super-stardom that is Michael Jordan.

ESPN spoke to more than 100 people close to the team and personalities who experienced the run, exploring all angles of the Jordan phenomenon and more.

The decision to release the documentary early as a way to give sports-starved viewers something original to binge on while quarantined was a brilliant move indeed. Considering the type of following that the series has established, this could very well be one of the most popular documentary series of all-time by the time the finale airs later in this month.
