Every spring, everyone goes to Texas for the annual SXSW festival. Started twenty-seven years ago as a film festival, SXSW has become one of the biggest showcases for hip hop artists in recent years. Recently, mtvU decided to use SXSW for one of their upcoming award shows.
With all of the biggest emcees in the game in Austin for SXSW 2013, mtvU decided to hold their annual Woodie Awards there. Being in such close proximity to all of the biggest rappers in the game, mtvU pulled off quite the coup. Several rappers who were in town for SXSW, performed at the mtvU Woodie Awards.
Pusha T, Macklemore, and Trinidad James all performed at the mtvU Woodie Awards. The footage of each performance was leaked to the internet. During the ceremony, the new resident Bad Boy, Machine Gun Kelly, won Woodie of the Year. Other rappers in attendance included Travi$ Scott.
