Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years in prison in December due to racketeering charges and crimes committed with the Nine Trey Bloods. He tried to snitch on them in court in September but that didn’t prove to help much. He ended up receiving one year in prison but was given credit for time served and is set to be released this August.

Today, there’s been speculation that the Brooklyn rapper could be released at 5pm, according to the Inner City Press. The U.S. District Attorney wasn’t against releasing 6ix9ine due to concerns of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In light of the analysis under Section 3553(a) detailed during the defendant’s sentencing and the Court’s March 25 Order, in the event the court finds ‘extraordinary and compelling reasons’ presented by the defendant’s medical condition, placing him at high risk during the COVID-19 outbreak, the Government does not oppose the defendant’s motion for compassionate release,” U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman wrote in a document filed to court.

6ix9ine originally sent in a request asking to be released due to the virus and his ongoing health issues which includes asthma. It’s now past 5pm and he still hasn’t been released.Had this happened, he would remained on house arrest. The Inner City Press is reporting that Judge Paul Engelmayer can rule on 6ix9ine being released as the US District Attorney must file this request at or before 5pm. As of now, 6ix9ine is still incarcerated.
