During the early 1990s, Dr. Dre was one of the biggest rappers in the game and responsible for several hit singles. While Dr. Dre was in the spotlight, he envisioned himself becoming a behind the scenes figure. As his career progressed, Dr. Dre took a backseat, making others into stars.

By the end of the 2000s, Dr. Dre became one of the most-elusive figures in hip hop. In his place, Dr. Dre had 50 Cent and Eminem. Soon, Dr. Dre even stopped making appearances with them. Last year, Dr. Dre made a surprising return, the official video for his “I Need a Doctor” single, which was to be followed by his Detox album.

Among the rumored release dates and track lists, T.I. was once mentioned as one of Dr. Dre’s collaborators. However, those rumors proved to be false when no album came. T.I., much like many other current hip hop stars, wanted to work with Dr. Dre, only to be turned down several times, even after working with Eminem. The only person Eminem came out of his hiatus for was T.I., with their 2007 collaboration, “Touchdown.” It would be nearly five years before T.I. would work with Dr. Dre, but the two came together for his “Popped Off” single.

“Popped Off” was taken from his #FuckDaCityUp mixtape and T.I. is currently preparing a video for it. According to T.I.’s entertainment manager, both T.I. and Dr. Dre will be in the video, which will be filmed in Atlanta.
