SZA sets new Spotify record as a female R&B artist

SZA continues to become one of the biggest R&B stars in the world. Over the past year and a half, she has had two major hit singles, in “Good Days” and “I Hate U.

The streaming numbers continue to impress for the TDE artist as well, as SZA has achieved a new Spotify record. According to Chart Data, she now becomes the first R&B female artist, to have multiple songs, each reach 1 billion streams, on Spotify.

These songs are SZA’s feature on Doja Cat’s 2021 “Kiss Me More” single, as well as her feature on Maroon 5’s 2017 “What Lovers Do” single. Kiss Me More peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and is platinum in the US. “What Lovers Do” peaked at number nine, and is 2s platinum, in the US.

In 2022, fans also hope that SZA finally releases her highly anticipated sophomore album. Currently, there is no official album title or release date. The last project that she released, was her 2017 debut studio album, “Ctrl.” According to sources close to Billboard though, SZA is likely to put out this project, in the second quarter of 2022.

“Both Kendrick Lamar and SZA have not released albums since 2017’s DAMN and Ctrl, respectively, though sources tell Billboard a Lamar single may arrive on Feb 4. or Feb. 11 before he plays the Super Bowl halftime show, while SZA’s sophomore effort is expected in the second quarter of the year.”
