A few months ago, BET did an “Inside The Label” feature on Ruff Ryders that explained their legacy. Those who know about the label likely assume Swizz Beatz is the founder. But, Ruff Ryders is the family business that he helped expand by working with DMX.
Swizz Beatz worked closely with DMX, securing him on Def Jam and then working with him, Jay Z, and Ja Rule. Later, he would work with the likes of Nas and Kanye West. Upon signing Eve, he helped Ruff Ryders get a deal with Interscope Records.
Recently, Swizz Beatz stopped by Hot 97, speaking to Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg. During the interview, he spoke on his history in the game and current work with Kanye West. Swizz Beatz would also discuss the No Commissions Art Show and a run-in he had with the police.
