Summer Walker Disapproves of How Social Media Won’t Let Black People Have Goth, Emo or Alternative Looks, as She Reminisces on Her High School Style

Summer Walker continues to be one of the most popular R&B stars in the industry, as fans wait for her sophomore album to arrive. She has already confirmed features on this project with SZA, Lil Durk, and Ari Lennox. As of now, the official title and release date have yet to be revealed.

Walker is never shy to voice her opinions on social media either. She’s very active on her @GalactaWhore Instagram feed as well, where she discusses many current even topics, such as COVID-19 vaccines. Now, Walker decided to share a throwback photo her in high school.

Walker is seen in a short top, skirt, and a guitar. Many know how talented the Atlanta native is with this instrument, and she revealed how she was so into goth, emo, and alternative style of clothing. Walker also explained how if she was white, she wouldn’t have gotten this type of criticism, even to this day.

“I wish I could find my old pics from high school, I had a shaved head, Mohawk, Afro, every color wig, blonde Bantu knots, shaved eye brows with 2 stripes of paint under my eyes like I was going to war lol I had it all cause I didn’t care to be MYSELF, and I still don’t. Don’t be mad at me cause you to puxxy to step outside of societal norms. Lmao imagine not doing wearing what you want until you have approval from the rest of your peers…🤮😂 and y y’all all wanna look the same anyway? N E way this’ll be left here to let you know idc, so save your opinions cause I’ma keep being ME regardless despite the insecurities/envy/projection you have towards me 🖤😌 AND if I was white no one would give af, for some reason black people ain’t allowed to be goth emo or alternative but that’s a different conversation.”

Walker definitely made many strong points here. Artists should be able to express their fashion styles in various ways, regardless of societal norms or expectations. Check out Summer Walker addressing this, below.
