When people talk about record executives, they often give credit to Jay-Z, Diddy, Master P, Russell Simmons, and Dame Dash. Those guys define hip hop excellence, but they are not the only ones to build dynasties. With the exception of Jay-Z, those guys have not built two successful record labels, but Steve Rifkind did.
People hail Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, Akon, and many others have risen to fame after being signed by Steve Rifkind. Many hip hop legends have signed to Steve Rifkind’s record labels. Initially, Steve Rifkind owned Loud Records, but he later sold it and started SRC Records.
This morning, Steve Rifkind was at Power 105.1 to talk to Revolt TV’s “The Breakfast Club” trio of DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. He talked about the history of both labels and how he signed so many artists. Steve Rifkind also talked about his AllDefDigital movement with Russell Simmons.
