Any time a legend, or anyone who is famous, but out of the spotlight starts trending on Twitter, fans prepare for the worst. When Slick Rick began trending, many were terrified. Though his run at the top of the game ended, decades ago, he remains a legend.
When people think of throwback tracks, Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story” comes to mind. Often, when it comes to storytelling rappers, Slick Rick is at the top of the debate. Some even say The Fresh Prince, who is better known as Will Smith, was influenced by him.
Being the authority in hip hop they are, XXL asked Twitter a question of who they think the best storyteller rapper is. A debate was sparked, but the clear winner was Slick Rick. The rest of Twitter just saw him trending, and panicked, but there’s nothing to worry about, Slick Rick is doing just fine, officially as hip hop’s best storyteller.
