Recently, the French Tennis Federation was bothered AF by Serena Williams wearing a “Black Panther” inspired catsuit on the tennis court. President of FTF, Bernard Giudicelli stated “One must respect the game and the place.”
The controversy stirred major tea when they told her the outfit was a no go and she was not to wear it again. Nah, not today Satan. The incident didn’t sit well with a plethora of fans as tons took to Twitter and Instagram, including former tennis star Billie Jean King who came to Serenas defense “the policing of women bodies must end.” Mmm kaaay!
While Williams made light of the situation she loudly came all the way through shining in a custom Tutu by Louis Vouitton designer Virgil Abloh and Nike during her first match at the US Open on Monday against Magda Linette. Okay sis, we see you. Fans alike were feeling the get up and loved the one sleeved bodysuit design as she dominated on the court per usual.
Moral of the story, do not come for the winning athlete and her performance attire because she will still serve all the sartorial sauce and stays with the tennis ball slay all day. You can’t stop a Queen whether in a catsuit or any costume. Nike tweeted “You can take the superhero out of the costume, but you can never take away her superpowers. #justdoit
