A lot has been said within the hip hop community about the “New West” and until this year, most felt it revolved solely around TDE. Kendrick Lamar was 2011’s breakout artist and he put TDE on the map last year and did very well for himself with last year. This year was supposed to be ScHoolboy Q’s turn, but he has had a few complications.
Sampling issues are slowing Oxymoron from coming and it looks highly unlikely that the label will put his debut album out this late in the year. ScHoolboy Q has managed to keep himself hot in the midst of all the changes. At the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, ScHoolboy Q kept his momentum going with his verse in the TDE cypher.
After doing the BET Hip Hop Awards, ScHoolboy Q talked to Sway Calloway over at his ever-popular “Sway in the Morning” on Shade 45. They talked about ScHoolboy Q’s impending run at the forefront of the game. Also, the discussion surrounded the TDE cypher at the awards.
