ScHoolboy Q reaches 23,000 pre-order sales with “Oxymoron” debut

ScHoolboy Q 4Before they had the Interscope Records deal, TDE was selling records major on an independent scale. Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul were putting street albums out online. Digital sales led Kendrick Lamar to Aftermath and the whole label to Interscope Records.

In a previous interview, ScHoolboy Q was asked how it felt to be signed to a major record label. Although he is grateful to have a deal, ScHoolboy Q said nothing really changed and he is recording Oxymoron like he did his previous albums. TDE is also pushing these albums like they pushed his last ones.

Oxymoron is due in two weeks, but ScHoolboy Q has the pre-order sales out on iTunes. Already, ScHoolboy Q has had purchases from 50 Cent, among other industry figures who are supporting his upcoming album. This morning, TDE tweeted that ScHoolboy Q is at 23,000 in pre-order sales, which is double Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city and close to his goal of 35,000.
