Samantha Barbash, The Former Adult Entertainment Host That Jennifer Lopez Portrays as a Scamming Dancer in ‘Hustlers’ Movie, is Suing Nuyorican Productions For $40 Million For Using Her Likeness and Story Without Permission

Last fall, Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Lizzo, Cardi B, and Constance Wu all starred in the film ‘Hustlers.’ The movie portrayed dancers at a New York City strip club in 2007 as the financial crises were on the way. They went on to make ends meet by drugging men and stealing their credit cards. Lopez was the leading star, as she played the role of well-known adult entertainment star, Samantha Barbash.

Samantha Barbash is not feeling the way she was portrayed in Hustlers. She’s suing Jennifer Lopez’s movie production company, Nuyorican Productions, for $40 million, according to TMZ. The reasons are using her likeness and story without permission along with defamation. In addition, the lawsuit states that producers of the film contacted her about getting consent and she turned it down. They went along with production of Hustlers anyway.

Samantha Barbash also alludes to the fact that Hustlers had Jennifer Lopez “used and manufactured illegal substances” in her home in the presence of her child in the movie. She says this is untrue and offensive. The breakdown of the $40 million Barbash is seeking are $20 million in compensatory damages and $20 million in punitive damages. JLo isn’t being sued directly but Nuyorican Productions is the target.
