The past few years have seen Russell Simmons star in several reality shows and it has shown him to be high-powered. However, unlike some of the other hip hop businessmen, mainly Diddy, Russell Simmons maintains calmness. This is the premise of his book, Success Through Stillness.

Russell Simmons returns with his latest book after years of being a leader in the hip hop community. He founded Def Jam in the mid-1980s and now it’s part of the super-label, Island Def Jam. There are many other businesses Russell Simmons have run that have had continued success.

Recently, Russell Simmons has been making his media rounds in promotion of the Success Through Stillness book. This brings him to Hot 97, where he talked to Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez. While he was there, Russell Simmons reflected on Def Jam’s history and got a current affairs lesson as well, when they taught him the definition of the word “THOT.”
