Rod Wave’s “SoulFly” Officially Debuts at Number 1 on Billboard 200 Chart and Has The Biggest US Sales Week Week For Any Hip-Hop/R&B Album in 2021
Early in the week, it was projected by Chart Data that Rod Wave would earn his first number one album this weekend. This is for his third studio album, “SoulFly,” which was released last week. Now, the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart is official for the Florida rapper.
According to Chart Data, SoulFly is number one with 130,000 units in its first week. 4,000 were in pure sales and the album accumulated 189.2 million on-demand streams. SoulFly also has the biggest US sales week for an R&B/Hip-Hop album this year.
SoulFly contained 19 tracks in total with the sole featured artist being Polo G. The lead singles were “Street Runner” and “Tombstone.” Rod almost had his first number one album in April 2020 with “Pray 4 Love” as that debuted at number 2. Now, Rod is finally on top as he continues to become one of the biggest breakout rappers over the last year and a half.
Rod is also part of a very deep and talented roster at Alamo Records. This includes Lil Gotit, Slimelife Shawty, 03 Greedo, and more. Rod initially expressed frustration with the label in January and didn’t plan to put out a new album but luckily, things ended up working out between both parties.
