The past few years have been a little un-Rihanna-like, as there was no music from the resident bad gal. Until January, Rihanna had not released a new album since 2012. That period of time saw Rihanna go through a series of changes.
Throughout her career, until 2009, Rihanna had Jay Z as her go-to executive. While she released three more albums with Def Jam, Rihanna had goals of reuniting with Jay Z. In 2014, she did this, signing with Roc Nation.
Rihanna has since owned the year of 2016, topping Billboard with “Work,” her Drake-assisted breakout single. Tonight, at the Billboard Awards, Rihanna performed “Love on the Brain.” The audience was blown away and all praise on Twitter belongs to Rihanna.
