Momentum coming into 2012 was strong for Rick Ross. Despite not releasing his long-awaited album, God Forgives, I Don’t, in 2011, Rick Ross still managed to become the biggest rapper of 2011. His momentum coming into 2012 was strong, especially with his mixtape single, “Stay Schemin,'” with Drake and French Montana.

Rick Ross carried the momentum of Rich Forever into the Self Made 2 album with his crew, Maybach Music. The album was an overall success and helped to set the stage for his God Forgives, I Don’t. After releasing his album, Rick Ross began to take a background role in music, making way for Meek Mill.

However, Rick Ross still was the most-dominant artist in the first six months of 2012 and it counts for something. Rick Ross’ first half of 2012 was more than what most’s decade was. Sway Calloway and the “brain trust” have come together, giving Nas the fourth position and Rick Ross the third on their “Hottest MCs in the Game” list.
