Before Yelawolf and Tito Lopez, Rich Boy was the man holding Alabama hip hop down and was signed to Interscope Records. Rich Boy actually helped to put Polow Da Don on the map as a producer. Times have changed, however, and Rich Boy is now an independent artist.
In 2011, Rich Boy returned to the game, releasing mixtapes. Because of Rich Boy’s breakout “Throw Some Ds” single, he was counted out in the game. But, few people realized Rich Boy worked with B.o.B. and Drake before T.I. and Lil Wayne added them to their rosters.
Rich Boy was in Philadelphia recently and he talked to Hip Hop Since 1987 at 3 in the morning. During the interview, Rich Boy spoke on his new music and his work with guys who became future stars. Asked about Alabama hip hop, Rich Boy said they are stepping their game up.
