Younger NBA fans know Ray Allen best for knocking down three pointers for the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. Older fans know the deal, though. Long before he was playing in the NBA Finals, Ray Allen carried several Milwaukee Bucks and Seattle SuperSonics teams.
Ray Allen led the Bucks to the 2001 Eastern Conference Finals and a memorable shootout with Allen Iverson. Even though his team lost a critical Game 7, Ray Allen put himself on the map. Later, Ray Allen was traded for Gary Payton and joined the Seattle SuperSonics.
After years of he and Rashard Lewis struggling in Seattle, the Sonics traded him to the Boston Celtics. The same day, the Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett and, with Paul Pierce, Boston immediately dominated, winning the title and returning to the Finals in 2010. Ray Allen joined their rivals, the Miami Heat, in 2012, winning the 2013 title and losing in the 2014 Finals.
Today, Ray Allen has subtly announced his retirement, via open letter, and Twitter is wishing the young man well.
