At the peak of the West Coast’s dominance, Ras Kass rose to fame. In 1996, Ras Kass released his debut album and there was no looking back. Ras Kass would follow with his sophomore album in 1998, boasting Dr. Dre collaborations and more. But, then there would be a seven year hiatus from Ras Kass.
Ras Kass released his third studio album in 2010 and has two albums planned for this year. Aside from his high-profile beef with Game, Ras Kass has remained out of the headlines. However, during his initial run, Ras Kass delivered one single which still receives attention, “Nature of the Threat.”
Rap Genius recently spoke to Ras Kass and they spoke with the Los Angeles legend about his classic single. Drawing inspiration from Rakim on the single, Ras Kass explained how the song came together. Ras Kass explained how Rakim saying he was God led to the conception of “Nature of the Threat.”
