R. Kelly Pays $62,000 In Back Child Support To Ex-Wife Drea Kelly To Cover March, April, and May Payments; Avoids Going To Jail Again

R. Kelly’s legal issues keep hovering over him like a dark cloud. He’s still facing ten counts of aggravated sexual assault for his relations with four underage girls over the years. Kelly is also being investigated for additional sex tapes along with sex trafficking, tax evasion and obstruction of justice in his home state of Illinois.

According to TMZ, Kelly was in court today in Cook County and paid up all the back child support he owes to ex-wife Drea Kelly. This was $62,000 total. It covers the months of March, April and May. Kelly’s Crisis Manager, Darrell Johnson, also told TMZ that he is putting the June, July, and August payments in escrow accounts. He is obligated to pay $20,000 per month to Drea Kelly.

R. Kelly has supposedly been going broke after his Chicago studio landlord took over $150,000 from him in late rent payments. How he got his $62,000 is hard to find out.

It gets worse though as R. Kelly still owes Drea $32,000 in interest on child support. She also wants him to cover school expenses for their 21-year-old daughter Buku Abi. Kelly’s lawyer wants proof that she’s enrolled in school though.

Kelly had been put in jail for missed child support payments back in March, which was during the same week that he had his huge meltdown in a CBS interview with Gayle King. An R. Kelly super fan in Chicago supposedly gave him the $161,633 to pay his bond.
