The mere association between Q-Tip and Kanye West has been the source of a lot of controversy. When Kanye West was still establishing himself and G.O.O.D. Music as a force, Consequence was signed to the label. Consequence even put out his lone album on the label, Don’t Quit Your Day Job!
By 2010, Consequence’s relationship with Kanye West ended when Pusha T joined the revitalized G.O.O.D. Music. Before the end of the year, Q-Tip also joined the label and it fueled Consequence’s animosity towards G.O.O.D. Since then, things have cooled off and the work has begun, with Q-Tip starting the Cruel Winter fiasco.
Kanye West is back in the spotlight for his usage of the Confederate Flag during his recent concerts. In an interview, Kanye West spoke positively about the flag that represented oppression for many years. Q-Tip has spent his career rapping against that and he called Kanye West out in a friendly manner because of it.
