The VMAs are going down inside the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ right now but the city is still dealing with a major issue. Like Flint, MI, they don’t have clean water. Lead levels in the water are worse than Flint’s as protestors are outside the venue as we speak.
The NRDC says that kids’ health are already at risk and federal laws have made it harder to obtain records containing critical data on blood lead levels. Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha added that they can point to how the crisis in Flint started but in Newark, the problem has gone under the radar for a while and there’s a lot of denial.
It’s sad that unclean water continues to be an epidemic in America. Money is spent towards so many necessary things like a racist border wall when there’s issues such at lives at risk. Check out video of protestors outside the VMAs and more info on it below.
Newark doesn’t have clean water, while the MTV VMAs is happening , they’re people protesting outside . The lead levels in the water surpassed Flint btw .
