Not too long ago, it was well-documented that there was friction within California hip hop. All in good fun, of course, the Bay Area and Los Angeles did not mix. This changed when Problem and Iamsu! joined forces. Million Dollar Afro was one of the biggest mixtape releases of the year and has shown the growth of the “New West.”
Iamsu! is from the Bay Area and is becoming one of the biggest rappers from the area, as it currently stands. Meanwhile, Problem is one of the many Los Angeles artists rising to prominence. Their partnership has helped to reinvent the public perception of the hip hop scene in California.
Recently, Problem and Iamsu! visited Shade 45 to talk to Sway Calloway. During the interview, Sway Calloway talked to Problem and Iamsu! about the changes out West. In the interview, there also was talk about how they linked up. Problem and Iamsu! closed their interview with a performance of “Understand Me.”
