Pop Smoke Posthumously Wins Two #BBMAs, For Top Rap Artist and Top New Artist

Fans continue to mourn the loss of Pop Smoke over a year later but nonetheless, he continues to win big with his music and as he’s definitely getting his recognition. His posthumous debut studio album, “Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon,” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart last summer and went platinum. This past spring, his 2019 breakout single, “Dior,” was also nominated for Best Rap Performance at the GRAMMYs.

Now, the late Brooklyn rapper just got recognized in a huge way. The winners of the 2021 Billboard Music Awards are starting to be announced now, and Smoke just took home two victories. These are for Top Rap Artist and Top New Artist. Smoke beat out Gabby Barrett, Doja Cat, Jack Harlow, and Rod Wave for Top New Artist. For Top Rap Artist, he edged out DaBaby, Drake, Juice WRLD, and Lil Baby.

Earlier this month, one of Smoke’s managers, Rico Beats, also revealed that a new album from Smoke is on the way. No exact date or title was specified, though. Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon had multiple platinum hits such as “For The Night” feat. DaBaby and Lil Baby along with “What You Know Bout Love.” Based on the love that Smoke continues to receive, this forthcoming project may see even bigger success, and more award wins, too.
