Back in 2004, hip hop had found its way into MTV’s lineup in a big way and there were many shows. Sway and DJ Clue made their presence felt on the network, but there was another addition. In 2004, Xzibit was added to the show to host “Pimp My Ride.”

Immediately, the show took with the audience and “Pimp My Ride” has since become a cult classic. In 2012, Xzibit talked to Hip Hop Vibe, as he has gone back to recording music. But, in the mid-2000s, Xzibit was the coolest rapper on MTV with his show.

Of course, there were some moments on “Pimp My Ride” that were obviously staged, but the show was all for entertainment. But, for the contestants, it wasn’t entertaining to be without their cars for close to a year and having to give back the tricks that pimped their rides. Executives from MTV also shared their side of the story.
