This king of New York stuff is serious business and Kendrick Lamar has earned an enemy out of a former friend over it. Papoose has put in enough work on the Brooklyn hip hop scene for New York to earn the title of king. His lack of mainstream success is a reason many would try to take away from his status.
Connecting with hip hop is best done online and the people who follow the sites know all about Papoose and what he’s done. Over the course of his career, Papoose always made himself accessible to the smaller hip hop media outlets to promote his projects. Even though he has dropped an album, this attribute with him remains.
Papoose and Kendrick Lamar have been going at it through the media. During the recent interview with Hot 97, Kendrick Lamar said he laughed at Papoose’s response. In the response interview with Vlad TV, Papoose said Kendrick Lamar having radio play does not make him the king of New York.
