When Torch talked to Hip Hop Vibe last fall, he said he doesn’t believe there is a such thing as kings and queens of New York. The way he feels, monarchy had it’s run in the 1700s, but today is a much different time. But, when Kendrick Lamar said what he said about New York, Papoose was the man who stepped up.

At a time when nobody else would challenge Kendrick Lamar, Papoose sacrificed his friendship with the whole TDE for his city. This speaks volumes into the type of person Papoose is and his status on the New York hip hop scene. Papoose does what he wants and says what he wants, standing behind it all.

Papoose recently held a concert and he declared himself the king of New York. In the middle of the performance, Papoose said he was the king of New York ahead of Jay-Z and all the others people have tried giving the crown to. Later, Papoose put the New York Daily News article on his Instagram and boasted about his concert and comments.
