NYC Mayor Eric Adams addresses drill music
Drill music has been a very popular form of hip-hop, over the last decade. It really started to blow up in Chicago, and then quickly branched out to cities such as New York City and London.
NYC appears to be the dominant drill scene now. Brooklyn has created many drill rappers lately, such as Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, and Sheff G.
Now, NYC Mayor, Eric Adams, does not like the impact that drill music is having on his city. He held a press conference, where he revealed that he’ll be meeting with various “high profile rappers,” to discuss drill music and how it’s contributed to violence in NYC.
Adams went on to say that he asked his own son about drill music. From that point, his son went on to send various drill music videos. Adams is seeking to ban these videos off of social media as well.
Adams didn’t reveal which rappers he was going to meet with, but it’ll be interesting to see how much of an impact they’ll have. Many disagree with drill music catching so much blame, but plenty do hold it accountable, for the violent lyrics, in these songs.
