Last night, Donald Trump pulled off a shocking win to take control of the presidency. Except, it wasn’t all that shocking if people looked at the enthusiasm Trump had from his supporters. The same luster was not there for Hillary Clinton.
To her credit, Hillary Clinton did work hard to energize her base and votes are still being counted. Turns out, Donald Trump really didn’t need the support of Jay Z, Beyonce, Big Sean, and the others to win. It is still surprising, but it is the reality.
Throughout the election and, even more so, on election night, Twitter was going back and forth. There were supporters of each candidate trading insults, but the tide shifted when Trump won Florida, as opposition to him became very nasty. It has continued this morning, with the #NotMyPresident hashtag.
While this may not be everyone’s favored outcome, Donald Trump has won, Hillary Clinton has conceded, and President Obama has invited him to the White House. Now, the focus should be on the people treating each other like people.
