Yesterday, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was arrested after failing to register himself as a sex offender in California. This was after a traffic stop in Beverly Hills in November of 2019 where police found this on his record. He is also a sex offender in the state of New York. This dates back to 1995 where he was charged with first-degree rape as he and the girl involved were both underage.
Petty was initially released on $20,000 bond in November but faced $100k in this case. He has faced a judge and is officially out of custody. According to TMZ, a judge ruled that he will have to wear an ankle monitor and be on a curfew. Prosecutors originally wanted him on house arrest but his attorney reached this compromise. In addition to the ankle monitor and curfew, there are other restrictions as well.
Petty will be under pretrial supervision, has turned in his passport, and cannot leave Southern California. Drug use is also a no-go as he can’t even visit dispensaries. His next hearing will take place on March 23. Petty also made headlines in January as he almost got into a physical alternation with Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, Meek Mill. This took place at a high-end store in Beverly hills. Meek and Minaj ended up throwing shots at each other on Twitter. Meek mentioned her brother who is doing 25 to life for a rape case involving a minor along with Petty. Minaj claimed that Meek beat up his own sister in front of her.
