Last week, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, took a plea deal, in court. This was to try to avoid 10 years in prison, as he failed to register as a sex offender in California, in early 2020. Petty is in his situation due to a 1995 first-degree rape conviction. The victim also came out last week, where she said she’s been threatened by Petty and Nicki, for refusing to accept bribes and recanting her story.
Now, Petty is looking to not have the sex offender tag, in his home state of New York. According to TMZ, court documents state that he never got to challenge this in court, and wants his name removed from New York’s Sex Offender Registry list.
At this point, Petty will be suing the state of New York and its Criminal Justice Services division. His claim is that when he was in prison in October 2004, and never receive a notice about this registry.
The sex offender risk label had Petty at a level 2, and this was never notified to his address of residence. The “Kenny Petty” signature was also supposedly forged. The person at the home went on to say that Petty couldn’t go to court in-person.
Petty is also citing humiliation and financial loss, due to his name still being attached to New York’s Sex Offender Registry list. Nicki has also removed the “Mrs. Petty” name from her Twitter account, which has fans wondering if they may head towards a divorce.
