Nicki Minaj and her classic debut album, “Pink Friday,” are celebrated by fans with #6YearsofPinkFriday on Twitter

6-years-of-pink-fridayIn what world is Pink Friday six years old? This is crazy how quickly time flew by, as the world waited on Nicki Minaj to drop an album for what seemed like forever. The late 2000s were a period where rap was going through a transition.

Nicki Minaj was among the new generation leaders, who was bringing female rappers back to prominence. She would do much more than that, breaking many records for female artists. In an ever-changing industry, Nicki proved the right artist can still go platinum.

With Lil Wayne in prison, Nicki Minaj picked up where Drake left off with Pink Friday doing its thing. The singles were “Your Love,” “Right Thru Me,” and the Drake-assisted “Moment 4 Life,” that came in 2010 and others came in 2011. Today, Twitter is celebrating the 2010 run with #6YearsofPinkFriday.
