The NFL will officially kick off its 100th season tomorrow in Chicago as the Packers take on the hometown Bears in the league’s oldest rivalry. The league is already beginning its social justice reform work with its Inspire Change program and Jay Z’s Roc Nation as well.
The Inspire Change program will donate $400,000 to groups which help at-risk youth find alternatives to gang and gun violence in Chicago, according to TMZ Sports. Meek Mill, Meghan Trainor, Vic Mensa, and Rapsody will all visit groups programs this week. Meek, Meghan, and Rapsody will also be performing in the city ahead of the Packers-Bears game as well.
The groups helping these at-risk youth were picked by Roc Nation.They are the BFF (Better Boys Foundation) Family Services and the Crusher’s Club. Mensa and Rapsody will visit them today. This group has been around since the 1960s and provides education, employment, youth services, and family health programs.
Meek and Meghan will visit Crusher’s Club tomorrow. This group’s mission is to help Chicago kids “restore their lives and improve their neighborhoods.” From this point, Inspire Change will be working with the NFL and Players Coalition to work with two groups in other cities. Salute to the NFL and Jay for making a difference in communities already. We do need Colin Kaepernick back in the league ASAP though.
