Nas signs Boldy James to new record label branch of Mass Appeal

Nas Boldy JamesTomorrow, the world can officially celebrate what Nas did for music in dropping his debut, Illmatic. But, hip hop has already celebrated with the Illmatic XX project that Nas dropped to celebrate the twentieth anniversary. Music is Nas’ passion, but business is something good to have in this harsh economic climate.

Mixing the best of both worlds, Nas led an investment group that purchased the hip hop magazine, Mass Appeal. Since then, Nas has begun to represent the brand by wearing Mass Appeal-themed apparel, and much more. Now, Nas is going even further into the music by launching a Mass Appeal record label.

Boldy James is one of Detroit’s hottest artists and Nas has been co-signing him ever since SXSW this year. They took the above photo together with DJ Whoo Kid and now they have even more in store. With Nas launching the Mass Appeal record label, he signed Boldy James as the first act.
