Nas Again Shuts Down Speculation of How He Supposedly Dissed Doja Cat On ‘Ultra Black’

By Yuriy Andriyashchuk Staff Writer

Back in August, Nas had social media on fire after he released his “Ultra Black” single which was produced by Hit-Boy. Many believed that he dissed Doja Cat on the lyrics “We goin’ ultra black, unapologetically black. The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson black.” Nas then appeared on Power 106 to say that the song was just about “bars and lines” along with having a good time. Dissing Doja was never his intention.

Doja went on to say that she coincidentally has a song titled “N.A.S.” but it isn’t a diss song as it was recorded before. Now, Nas is addressing the Ultra Black drama again in a new interview with NME. The hip-hop legend explained how people will spin what he says, especially since he name dropped someone popular like Doja.

“Well, I’ve been away, so, of course, I mention someone’s name that’s popular and people are gonna talk about it,” Nas explained. “I hear people do it all the time but no one makes a big deal of it. Maybe it’s because I don’t put out records a lot, so they’re like, ‘Whoa!’”

“I don’t really know the world that these stars live in anymore,” Nas added. “I’m rapping the same way I did when I was on the block, but now there’s a new world and what I say can take off with social media and I can’t do anything about it.”

The diss speculation was a result of Doja allegedly being in chat rooms with racists on Tinychat in May. She also released a song in 2015 titled “Dindu Nuffin” where she tried to reclaim a derogatory term for police brutality victims. Nas and Doja Cat being mentioned in the same sentence and having potential beef was definitely 2020 madness. In the end, it’s great to see that the twos stars have no animosity towards each other at all. That same month in August, Nas released his 13th studio album, ‘King’s Disease.’ This was also headlined by the “Spicy” record featuring Fivio Foreign and A$AP Ferg.
