In the early 2000s, Missy Elliott established the legacy that would eventually garner her legendary status. Already, she had hits from the 1990s, but came into her own in the 2000s. However, 2005 is the last time Missy Elliott released a new album.

Missy Elliott had plans of releasing an album in 2008, even having a fan contest to name the album. Even with a buzzing single, the album never got off the ground, thus never released. Aside from appearances, here and there, Missy has been out of the spotlight.

Yesterday, Missy Elliott replied to a fan that asked her about releasing a new album. Still signed with Atlantic Records, Missy Elliott called them out in her tweet. Tagging Atlantic Records, Missy says they are the holdup on getting her new album out.
