Mike Tyson avoids criminal charges after punching man on flight

Last month, Mike Tyson went viral, due to a heated fight, on his flight from San Francisco to Miami. This was on a JetBlue flight, as many fans got photos with the legendary boxer, and everything was fine.

One man soon reportedly became very obnoxious from behind Tyson’s seat. He even allegedly threw a water bottle at Tyson. That resulted in Tyson punching the man repeatedly, while in his seat. The injuries sustained by the man were clearly visible as well, as there were some bloodied areas on his head. The man’s attorney denied that a bottle was thrown, and that his client was simply “overly excited.

The victim ended up speaking to the San Francisco Police Department, about the situation. That came after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Now, Tyson has officially avoided any criminal charges, in this case, according to TMZ. The San Mateo County District Attorney explained that this decision was made, due to “the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson”

San Mateo County D.A. Stephen Wagstaffe added that Tyson and the victim didn’t want to move forward, in any legal proceedings.

“We thank San Mateo District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County Sheriff, and all law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation for their careful, diligent, and professional work,” said three of Tyson’s attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Martin A. Sabelli.
