Megan Thee Stallion Scores Second Win of The Night at 2021 GRAMMYs For Best New Artist Award [VIDEO]

Megan Thee Stallion was a favorite to win big at the 63rd annual GRAMMYs tonight and has been doing that so far. Earlier in the day, the Houston rapper took home the award for Best Rap Performance, featuring Beyonce. This was for the remix for Megan’s 2020 “Savage” remix.

Now, Megan has just received another award in Los Angeles and that’s for Best New Artist. Other nominees in this category were Phoebe Bridgers, Doja Cat, Chika, Kaytranada, D Smoke, Ingrid Andress and Noah Cyrus. Megan has been on fire since 2019 with every release she has. It all started in February of that year with the breakout success of her 2018 single, “Big Ole Freak.”

Lizzo ended up presenting this award to Megan as she was clearly emotional. This was the case for the Best Rap Performance acceptance as well. She definitely has plenty of reasons to show her appreciation for the accolades she’s reached over the last two years. Megan is also the first female rapper to win this award this century and the first to do so since Lauryn Hill in 1999. She is also nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Record. Many like her chances of going for a 4/4 sweep tonight.

In 2020, Megan also released her debut studio album, “Good News.” This debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and is at platinum status now. It was led by other hits such as “Cry Baby” feat. DaBaby, “Girls In The Hood,” and “Don’t Stop” feat. Young Thug.
