Often, hip hop fans discuss whether Jay-Z would have been as big if Tupac and Biggie had lived. What is overlooked is the other discussion of how Jay-Z’s career would have went had Mase not retired. There was a time when Mase and Bad Boy Records’ style influenced Jay-Z, who even took shots at Mr. Harlem World.
Fans who were coming up during the late 1990s often question how the game would be different if Mase kept going. The world will never know, but Mase is here now and that’s all that matters. Mase is working hard on Now We Even, his first album since his Christian-themed Welcome Back, from 2004.
Mase recently made headlines for filing for divorce from his wife, Twyla Betha, after twelve years of marriage. Major headlines came when Mase immediately ordered officials to cancel the request, as he must have had a change of heart. The story itself is interesting, but the photo used by the mainstream media brings up a question and an answer… “Who is that guy? He sure isn’t Mase.”
