In the mid-2000s, Mario became one of the more popular younger R&B singers in the game. His peak came in 2004, with “Let Me Love You,” off his sophomore album. After this album, Mario saw himself taking a hiatus while guys like Chris Brown emerged.

However, Mario did return with new albums in 2007 and 2009. Despite a single with Nicki Minaj, “Somebody Else,” Mario didn’t release a new album in 2013. He did leave J Records/RCA during this period, which he says is the right move.

Mario stopped by “The Breakfast Club” this morning and he talked to the trio, DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. He came into this interview and talked about his new company, Rivers Media Group, consisting of music, fashion, management, and philanthropic branches. Discussing his new business ventures, Mario spoke on going indie, mentoring kids in Baltimore, new music, and much more.
