Mariah Carey returning to Epic Records, plans to release a “Greatest Hits”-type album

A decade ago, Mariah Carey was just beginning to prove every critic wrong about her career. Thought to be dead in the water, Mariah Carey followed Jermaine Dupri to Def Jam and had two failed singles out. But, she released “We Belong Together” and reached a new peak in her career.

Mariah Carey would stay on Def Jam until late last year, remaining with the label for ten years. This period saw her release three albums under the label and go through a career renaissance. Now, Mariah Carey is watching her career go full circle.

After spending a couple of months as a free agent, Mariah Carey is returning to her original label home. Joining Epic Records reunites her with L.A. Reid for the third time in her career. Her first release with Epic will be a Greatest Hits-style project, featuring music spanning back to her debut, some twenty-six years ago.
